Member Tour: The Artistry and Reunion of Two Surimono Albums
RISD Museum members are invited to a special tour of The Artistry and Reunion of Two Surimono Albums.
This exhibition brings together two remarkable albums of privately commissioned Japanese woodblock prints created in the 1820s and 1830s—reuniting them for the first time in nearly a century. Combining exquisite printmaking with playful poetry, these surimono offer a glimpse into the vibrant artistic and literary culture of Japan at the time.
During this intimate tour led by curator Wai Yee Chiong, learn more about the artistry, context, and extraordinary reunion of these works.
