Museum Concerts of Rhode Island celebrates its 50th anniversary with a Gala Season Opening concert given in memory of Estise Metcalf Mauran.  The concert will take place in the Grand Gallery at the RISD Museum.  The program features the music of Claudio Monteverdi with the Schola Cantorum of Boston, (Frederick Jodry, Director), Judson Griffin and Margaret Ziemnicka, violins; Reinmar Seidler, cello; and Nathaniel Cox, theorbo.

A reception will follow the concert.

Please use the Museum entrance at 224 Benefit Street.

Claudio Monteverdi stands at the pinnacle of 17th Century composers – from his pen came dramatic Operas, grandiose church compositions, and nine books of Madrigals. Boston’s Schola Cantorum explores works from the Madrigals of Love and War, and exuberant Psalm settings from Selve Morale (1640).

“There can never be enough singing on this level.” – Josiah Fisk, the Boston Herald
