VIRTUAL: Listening Party: Tell Them, I Am

This event is no longer on sale.

Thursday April 23

12:00 PM  –  1:30 PM

Virtually, join Nancy Prophet Fellow Tayana Fincher to discuss Tell Them, I Am, a podcast focusing on small defining moments and characteristics that make individual Muslims who they are. In conjunction with the upcoming exhibition, It Comes in Many Forms: Islamic Art from the Collection, this program shares perspectives to inspire conversation about identity, representation, and global Muslim communities.

Over the course of three consecutive Thursdays, starting on the first day of Ramadan, we will begin on Zoom for a quick overview, hear episodes separately, and finally come together for a dialogue. After listening and gathering questions, which can also be done in advance and added here, we will video in for about an hour-long casual discussion. Questions and comments can also be sent in the sidebar chat during the dialogue.

Please find the list of episodes we’ll discuss on Thursday below; Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and NPR also provide easy ways to access each one. Although we’re not able to meet in person, we are excited to still engage with this content together! Tell Them, I Am is a production of Southern California Public Radio. © (p) 2019 Southern California Public Radio. https://www.scpr.org/.

Episode 4, Ramy Youssef and Episode 15, Emmen Ahmed on NPR

The content in these episodes includes some profanity and the loss of a loved one. Virtual program and different discussions will repeat on Thursday, April 30 and Thursday, May 7 from 12-1:30 pm.

To get started with Zoom web conferencing, review this guide. A stable internet connection is essential. We recommend using headphones or earbuds with a mic to cancel out extraneous noise. Participant video and audio will be voluntary.
